Mizoram : New security battalion to deployed soon |
 |
Another India Reserve Battalion will be posted in Mizoram soon. This was stated by Rajya Sabha member Lalhmingliana in Aizawl on Nov. 21.
“The Union Home Ministry has okayed the proposal for the establishment of the 3rd India Reserve Battalion in Mizoram, and construction for this will begin soon,’ Lalhmingliana said.
The Rajya Sabha member was inaugurating the new firing range of the 3rd Battalion of the Mizoram Armed Police at its Mualpui headquarters, near Aizawl.
The international border Mizoram shares with Bangladesh and Myanmar makes for easy entry points for cross-border terrorists. The manpower hurdle faced by Mizoram police in monitoring all entry routes was the main reason behind deploying more battalions, Lalhmingliana said.
Lalhmingliana attributed Mizoram’s status as the “most peaceful state” of the Northeast to the dedication and diligence of its police force.
At another function held at the police training centre in Lungverh on Saturday, Mizoram governor A.R. Kohli urged the 58th batch of trainee constables to work diligently in order to win people’s confidence.
