Mizoram : Move to curb influx

The Mizoram government has put in place

stringent measures to check the ever-increasing

flow of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants into

the state. More such measures are in the pipeline.

State Chief Secretary Haukhum Hauzel recently set

up a task force comprising police and Border Security

Force (BSF) personnel as part of such measures. The

task force will monitor the movement of the illegal

aliens from Bangladesh sneaking into the state either

through the international border or through

neighbouring Cachar district for earning a living in

the state.

An official source said Hauzel stated this at a

high-level meeting of Mizoram government officials

in Aizawl recently. This is the second time during

the past few years that Aizawl has decided to crack

down on the illegal immigrants from the adjacent

country in a firm manner.
