Leaders of the Mizoram People’s Conference have revealed that the party is likely to join forces with the ruling Mizo National Front.
According to MPC leaders, three persons each from both parties have been meeting to chalk out modalities for joining forces. It is expected that the MNF and the MPC would have a joint legislature in the state Assembly.
The MPC leaders said the MNF party had initiated the proposal, as a result of which the meetings had taken place.
This move of the MNF has also puzzled political analysts because the MNF already has 22 MLAs in the 40-member House.
However, with the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, it is likely that the MNF wants to consolidate its position.
