The Meghalaya government has identified infiltration from Bangladesh as a serious problem. Replying to the discussion in the Assembly on June 28 on the cut motion moved by Independent member Manas Chaudhuri, home minister R.G. Lyngdoh clarified that stringent measures would be taken to check the movement of Bangladeshi immigrants into the state. He added that if found, the illegal migrants would be deported.
