Maoists-police officer swap deal raises controversy

In West Bengal, the Maoists released Sankrail police officer in charge Atindranath Dutta in a forest village in Lalgarh on October 22 after striking a deal with the state government. Earlier, 23 suspected Maoists arrested during the past few months were granted bail by a court as the government did not oppose the bail petition.
