Look East policy : Arunachal to have six trade points |
 |
The Centre has granted permission to open six border trade points along the international border in Arunachal Pradesh as part of its Look East policy. This was stated by Chief Minister Gegong Apang in Itanagar on Feb. 20 while speaking at a function to mark the 20th statehood day of Arunachal Pradesh. He told mediapersons that opening the international border for trade would make the state a gateway to South East Asia, besides boosting the economy and creating business and job opportunities for local people. However, he did not specify the location of the six trade points.
Apang sought a special peace package for Arunachal Pradesh from Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal, who was the chief guest at the function.
