Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohd. Sayeed has complimented the security forces on their support to the peace process in the state and for creating an atmosphere of reconciliation. Addressing a rally of ex-servicemen in Srinagar, he said the efforts to win the hearts and minds of the people of the state have got support from all quarters. He appreciated the role of the Army and paramilitary forces in understanding his point of view on addressing the root cause of the discontent.
The Mufti said the path of dialogue and reconciliation by the leadership of India and Pakistan is the way forward for the people of the state which had already started benefiting Jammu and Kashmir. He said Kashmir is becoming a bridge of friendship.
Meanwhile, notwithstanding terrorist threats, the Jammu and Kashmir Government is going ahead with its plan to rehabilitate the displaced Kashmiri pandits in the Valley. The first batch is all set to return within two months. The batch comprises 350 families living in different camps at Jammu and Udhampur. The Left on its part, has asked the Centre to come up with clear initiatives to resolve the Kashmir issue. CPIM general secretary Prakash Karat said in Srinagar on Wednesday, August 24 that the UPA Government appears to be unclear in its offer of dialogue with political groups in Kashmir.
“They have to do away with ambiguity and come up with clarity on the issue as to whom and what they have to talk,” he said. “Talks should be held at political level. We want some real solution to the Kashmir problem.”
On the inclusion of militants in the dialogue process, he said, “When I say “with all”, it means “all.”
