Karnataka elections : 60 pc turnout in 1st phase

The people of Karnataka voted in the first phase of the Assembly elections for 89 seats on Saturday, May 10. Around 60 per cent of the electorate exercised their franchise, official sources said in Bangalore on completion of the first round polling. The 11 districts, where elections were held, recorded an average voting of about 60 per cent, below the State average of 65 per cent in the 2004 poll.
