The uncertainty about the timing of holding elections in Jharkhand, now under President’s rule, ended on Friday, Oct. 23, with the Election Commission announcement of a five-phase polling schedule to elect a new Assembly. The five-phases will spread from Nov. 27 to Dec. 18. Counting for all 81 Assembly segments will take place on December 23.
