India-Russia-China Trilateral Forum meet |

The Foreign Ministers of India, China and Russia meeting in Yekaterinburg [Russia] on May 15 adopted a common position on combating terrorism, separatism and extremism. Meeting under the banner of Russia-India-China Trilateral Forum [RIC], the Ministers emphasized that all member States of the United Nations should make concerted efforts towards expeditious finalisation of a comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the UN, said a joint communiqué issued after the two-day meeting. The three countries reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation to fight terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Pranab Mukherjee of India, Sergei Lavrov of Russia and Yang Jiechi of China. Participating in the deliberations, Mukherjee mentioned the Jaipur serial blasts and underscored the nodal role of the UN in combating international terrorism. He said there was an urgent need to adopt a comprehensive convention.
