Election to the 40-member Goa Assembly would be held on June 2. This was announced by the Election Commission in New Delhi on April 18. The Model Code of Conduct in Goa comes into force with the poll announcement. The poll notification will be issued on May 8. Counting of votes will take place on June 5. The Congress on Thursday said it saw no problems in arriving at a seat sharing arrangement with the NCP to shake off the challenge from the BJP in the tiny state. “We are talking with the NCP on seat sharing.... I see no problem,” AICC general secretary Margaret Alva told media persons about the prospects of an alliance with the Sharad Pawar-led NCP for the June polls.
