Exit polls conducted on Oct. 13, when people in three states – Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh- voted to elect new state Assemblies, indicate that the Congress is heading towards retaining power there. However, exit polls in India have often been proved wrong by the actual results when they come out. One has to take them with a pinch of salt; at best, they may be indicative of the general poll trends.
