Drive against ultras in Manipur |

Security forces in Manipur have driven out insurgents of Manipur Peoples Army (MPA) from many villages in interior ChanŽdel district bordering Myanmar.
According to an Army spokesman, Brig Raymond Noronha, in-charge of Operation Somtal II, the Army and Assam Rifles personŽnel have so far flushed out insurgents from old Somtal, HollenŽjang, Changjal, Sehlon and some other nearby villages. Talking to newspersons at Somtal on Dec. 8, he said seventy per cent of the current counter-insurgency operations launched since mid-November under Operation Somtal II have been completed and security forces would be able to drive out the insurgents from border areas by Christmas.
