A two-day national executive meeting of the CPI is beginning in New Delhi today, Sept. 18. The focus at the meeting is expected to be on possible electoral alliances for the coming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and other states. In Uttar Pradesh, the party has already tied up with the Jan Morcha led by former Samajwadi Party MP Raj Babbar which is fighting both the BJP and the ruling Samajwadi Party. The CPI(M) is aligned with the Samajwadi Party.
