Chhattisgarh : About 20 people killed in Naxal violence |

Chhattisgarh witnessed several attacks by Maoists last week in which about 20 security men were killed. On February 10, eight Jawans of the Central Industrial Security Force were killed and nine injured when Maoists attacked an explosives depot of the National Mineral Development Corporation in Dantewada district. The Naxalites escaped with a large quantity of explosives material and weapons.
Earlier on Monday, Feb. 6, the Maoists struck twice killing 11 security men. Armed terrorists attacked a remote police outpost in Jashpur in the northern part of the state and blew up a patrolling van of the Naga Armed Police in south Bastar. According to a police spokesman, nearly 500 armed Naxalites carried out a pre-dawn attack by storming Ara police outpost. The Maoists who carried out the raid, opened sporadic fire and lobbed bombs, outnumbering the 17 policemen in the outpost. The Naxals killed two policemen and injured eight others. In the second incident, an NAP van on a search and find mission was attacked and nine jawans killed.
