Al-Gore mission on climate change |

The former US Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Al-Gore, who came to India to discuss climate change and sustainable development, announced a major initiative – the Climate Change Project-India – to be implemented in collaboration with The Energy and Resources Institute [TERI]. Also present at the launch was the TERI Director General, R.K. Pachauri. Al-Gore called on the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Manmaohan Singh before launching the initiative. The Climate Change Project-India, a joint initiative of the TERI and Jindal South West Foundation, will hold training and workshops to create awareness of climate change at the grassroots level.
Speaking on the occasion marking the launch of the India Chapter of the Climate Change Project in New Delhi on March 15, Al-Gore said, India could lead the world in renewable energy technologies as part of a solution to the climate change crisis. He said, India had proved its capability in information technology, pharma and other sophisticated sectors and could be a leader in developing new energy technologies to combat climate change.
