ABSU seeks Advani’s intervention
News Behind The News

October 22, 2001

Meanwhile, All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), another militant outfit fighting for more autonomy for their community to have a separate state, has sought the “direct intervention” of Union Home Minister L.K. Advani to solve the problem. The Centre as well as the Bodo Liberation Tigers, representing the Bodos, had already agreed to more autonomy within the state of Assam in lieu of a separate state but due to differences within the Congress government of Tarun Gogoi, the final decision on this long struggle is apparently being held up.
